Hi phil3

Is your MEP up to date with patches and burn routines?

What is the format of the imported files - if they are avi or mov use GSpot or MediaInfo to analyse them to find the true codec used inside the file.  Gspot has an option to render the files and tell you if this is possible and with which codecs.

Do you have any codec packs installed eg KLite ?

I am having the same problem with Movie Edit Pro 2013.  Imported video from my Canon 7d, the audio plays fine but imported video from my pentax wg-II the audio plays fine for about 8 seconds then turns to high pitched static.  Is this a codec problem?  I am pretty new at the video editing thing so I am completely perplexed.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Lisa

Hi a bit more information is need - which version of MEP2013 have you installed?

Have you followed my advice below - there is an update for MEP2013 which you download from here and then install - you will need to login with the accpunt you created when you registered the software.

Use GSpot (link below) to analyse a Pentax video clip and to see if you have the correct codecs installed.

Come back with the information after doing the above if the problem is solved or you need more help.

John,

Thank you for your reply.  I have MEP2013Plus.  I downloaded the update installed it and the program crashed.  I uninstalled everything, reinstalled everything, ran MEP2013Plus without the update and still had the same problem with the audio.  I reinstalled the update and the program crashed again; I am getting Error 6.

I am about to give up on this program.  This is the third version of MEP I have tried and I have yet to get one to work. I originally purchase MEP 17 after I bought a computer which excided what your specs said I needed to run the program; bought the computer specifically for this program as my video only computer.  After trying to fix the problems with 17 by upgrading my computer to the tune of $300.00 I found out that the problem was with the program, not my computer.  I upgraded the program and had the same problems.  Now, I have upgraded the program again because I was assurred that MEP2013Plus supported a 64bit computer and while I am no longer having the memory allocaton issues I still can't put together a video.

If you know of a way to help me with this I would really appreciate it.  I really don't want to use an Adobe product but my video making is not happening with MEP programs.

Thanks.

Lisa

John,

OK here is what GSpot says about the audio clips for both the Canon 7D and the Pentax:

Canon 7d -    Codec - sowl: 16-bit signed little-endian      Info - 48000Hz

Pentax wg-ll - Codec - sowl: 16-bit singed little-endian     Info - 32000Hz

Since the 7D video will play with audio I am assuming that the Codec is installed.  The only difference is the HZ.  Is possibly  what the problem is?

I have to say that I downloaded Premiere Elements and stuck the video clip from the Pentax in the timeline and it worked fine.  Any help you could give me with this problem would be very much appreciated.  I HATE Premiere.  I really do want to use this software, but I need it to work with both cameras.

Thank you.

Lisa
