You are not the first to discover this issue with Windows 8 and new computers and older versions of software (not just Magix but others as well).
As yet no definitive cure has been found, however the following may help
1. If the Windows 8 is the 64 bit version then you may need 32 bit version of the CD/DVD drivers installing, 32 bit software does not always work with 64 bit drivers - you may have to search the CD/DVD drive manufacturers web site for these.
2. The CD/DVD drive may so new that there are no 'parameter' settings available yet for MEP - check that your Burn Routines are the latest - you need to login here https://support2.magix.com/customer/en/download.

If these do not work then it may be necessary to upgrade MEP to the latest version - you can download the trial version first to test if it is OK with your new computer - installing it will not affect your MEP 15 installation.
