Is anything being recorded, such as the other tracks?

If nothing is recorded then it depends on what you are recording from... Are you using a 1/4" pin connections or a USB connections. Is that selected correctly in Windows?

You will need to understand that the MAGIX software pulls information from Windows as to what device is the preferred recording device, and if Windows is set to something you are not recording from then you won't have any audio recorded within the program.

If you are just not hearing yourself while recording, it could be that your sound device is not full duplex, which would be bad. You need a full duplex device to playback and record, otherwise you can only do the one or the other.

Second, make sure you have playback while recording selected if it is an option in the record dialog

I hope some of that helps
In the record dialog, does it list to you the correct record device? If this is a USB mic, it should list it as such.

If you monitor the input, does it register, if not... nothing will be recorded.

For me to get a better picture, when you are in the Music Maker program press R on the computer keyboard, this should open the record dialog.

Under the first section, the device you are going to record from has to be selected. If it is not, then the Music Maker will not record anything.

I took a screen shot of mine, with the only USB mic that I had. In the picture I also have marked in Red the area you can press to open the Windows dialog for recording.

In the Windows dialog you must have that device listed and selected, if not, then the device is not recognized by Windows as a recording device, and you would need to contact the recording device manufacture to see if there is a separate driver required.

If your setup looks like mine from the screen shots, and you want to record vocals to music you have created, you will need to check off the playback while recording option in section 3.

That really is all there is too it.

I am being unhelpful?

Perhaps your sound device doesn't support the task that you are asking it.

When you press on Record, in the first area, what device is listed as the recording device?

First you have to understand how the software works.

MAGIX is not controlling the PC, Windows is... and because a device works with Windows does not necessarily mean it will work with programs.

For the MAGIX Software to say the hardware is not installed means to be that it is unable to get information about the USB device.

So, I would see if the manufacture of the device has drivers that can be installed.

The only USB mic I have is a Logitech USB Headset, and that is exactly how it shows up in the section 1 of the record dialog.

What you have listed seems to generic, it should have a device name or manufacture name.

It is that which I think needs to be tackled first, everything else I have said or show is how to correctly record while playing back

Try installing this driver. If the link won't work, go to ASIO4all dot com.
