Hi

There is very little information to go on and we cannot see your screen - please read this post and then come back with more information.

Also include the following:

  1. Is this the first time you have used MEP?

  2. Was it working and has now stopped?

  3. If you are using Windows 10 was this an upgrade from 7, 8 or 8.1 or a clean install?

  4. The source of the video ie camera make / model screen capture or recording.

Hello. I am still in the preocess of reading threads here and making sure that I don't overlap. Again, my apologies as I should have done this first.   I am using movie edit pro 2014 premium. And, yes am new to it.  It is on computer with windows 7. I wahted this windows 7 as I have an alesis iO4 which only works on windows 7. I didn'y realise when I bought it - so ensured my computer was windows 7 too.  But I haven'y yet used or learned enough to work much of any of the facilities.

I have managed to get some film imported into the magix - I realised that this was to do with format a little bit.  I also have a laptop with windows 8, so the film was being saved and viewed by quick time.   I installed quicktime on the computer with magix and the film could be dragged down to work on. I also couldn't find any film first in magix, but then learned that I had to click the add and view all files and folders on my computer.  It's early days and I have yet to learn how to split or delete a portion or a frame, but again I am sure the site here covers that and I will keep learning.   The camera is not greta at all, very basic.  But I can't afford a decent one and really I need to learn about the stuff that I do have first.  the camera is GE DV1 - just alittle orange ditital recorder. When you say that you cannot see my screen, I don't know what you mean John. Do you mean you wanted me to take a snapshot of the magix screen I am using?  Thank You :)

Hi

. . . . It's early days and I have yet to learn how to split or delete a portion or a frame . . . .

I would suggest you read the installed PDF manual - under Help in the program if you have not done so.

Tthere are also a lot of tutorials on this forum - select Tutorials, Video above to get to them, and on Youtube - many are for earlier versions of MEP -  however the methods apply generally to most versions of MEP and give you a good insight how to video edit using the software.

. . . . When you say that you cannot see my screen . . . .. Do you mean you wanted me to take a snapshot of the magix screen I am using? . . . .

In this particular case I meant we cannot see what is happening on your screen when you try to import a video, ie what messages are displayed, what happens etc, and yes screenshots are often helpful in certain situations eg you cannot get an effect to work.

. . . . the camera is GE DV1 - just alittle orange ditital recorder . . .

From which you can get some good video providing you recognise and understand some of the limitations eg it is not very good in low light levels and the lack of optical zoom etc

Come back if you have any problems after reading the manual and looking at the tutorials and we will try to help you.
