"A device ID has been used that is out of range for your system." I get this message what does this mean?

Is this a first install or has the program been working before?
If the program was working before, what changed on the computer between working and none working eg were there there any driver updates, Windows updates or other changes?
We also need more information about your computer specification, Windows version and the actual audio card/chipset you have installed - see this topic for more details of what is required.
