I can't change my transitions in Movie Edit Pro 2016.

jordan-168 wrote on 7/29/2016, 7:03 AM

So what I did was: I imported a 4k video. The program asked me to adjust the resolution of the vid so i clicked yes. Then things started screwing up. Basically, it resulted to this. I can't change the transitions anymore. I basically can't edit anything anymore. All the icons are gone. Also, the waveforms on the audio files are gone.

Please help me. I worked on this project for quite some time and it's a shame to reboot it. I already checked the "Windows" settings but nothing helped. All help is appreciated.

Hi

. . . . I worked on this project for quite some time and it's a shame to reboot it. . . . .

There may be one of several things occurring:

  1. There is a dialog behind the MEP main window waiting for you acknowledge a prompt - minimse the MEP main window if you can, alternatively press Alt + Tab to cycle through all active Windows.

  2. The PC may have run out of free memory or resources and MEP has frozen / crashed - note: 4 Gb of RAM is insufficient for working with 4k video.

Are you able to save the project?

If so do this and the shut down MEP and restart the computer.

If MEP has crashed then you will have to force shut it down using Task Manager and then reboot the computer.

The project may be corrupt so when you restart MEP you get an error meaasage or a dialog asking if you want to load the project backup - load the backup - if it loads OK then save the project with a new name.

Unfortunately, none of these solutions helped. However, I took your advice and I thought "laterally". My solution: Export the movie as an mp4 > Create new project > Import the mp4 file > Voila, everything's fine and I can get back to editing. Your help is gladly appreciated.

Hi Jordan,

I'm not at home so I can't check this, but when you have a lengthy bunch of objects on the timeline and you have zoomed to see all of them, the transition zones get too small for the icon to show on the transitions. Try zooming in using the zoom tools at the bottom right of the timeline to make the objects larger, that is, to see less objects on the timeline. The transition zones will then show up as longer. This also affects the waveform display and the handles on the objects.

I also noticed that you have turned on the Preview quality switch (P), in case you were wondering why the resolution on the screen is lower and why effects may not be on.
