I am unable to connect my Sony DCR TRV33 to Edit Pro 16 Plus using Windows 7

The above video camera is seen and recognised as a device in devices & printers correctly.  When I load Edit Pro 16 plus and try to connect to the camcorder using firewire (ilink) I get the response that it cannot find the camera.   using the same software in 'Vista'  all is well.

As the edit pro 16 Plus is SUPPOSED to be compatable with Windows 7 how can I correct the problem?

Note no drivers are are necessary in Windows 7 or Vista this seems to be problem with the software.

Any assistance appreciated

I have a Sony HDR-XR500 and I use Movie Edit Pro 16 Plus in both a Windows Vista 64, and the Window 7 64 OS.

For me to use the Sony device, I do not use the first screen Record mode of Movie Edit Pro, I go right to Edit, then to the Import tab, I locate the Drive letter that was assigned to the camera as it is connected to the computer and I load in the material that way. I find that the record mode is really only useful for older camera that run on tape or recording from the VCR. Also, I am using the USB cable at least I am not using a Firewire connection.

Now, I am not sure if your Sony works the same way.. I also do not think this is a compatibility problem with Movie Edit Pro 16 Plus in Windows 7, although I know Windows 7 is giving me hell with sound devices and recording delays, that has been the operating system nightmare since I purchased the new laptop.

Because my Sony is working, and yours is not leads me to believe it cannot be the software, but it could either be the way the software is being asked to use the camera, it could be additional applications installed on the computer that is creating a communications issue.

Many thanks to john-auvil for your prompt response but unfortunately there is still no connection between the camera and the software - it looks as though I shall have to keep the disk with Vista on it just for this to solve this problem.

I have tried the trial version of Adobe Premier Eliments 8 and have the same result with this programe.  The camera is about 6 years old and is used mainly once/twice a year when we visit the Grand Children to show theit G.G. Gradmother how they are growing up.

Thanks again.
