How to turn off all these irritating MAGIX notifications

grahamm7 wrote on 11/3/2022, 12:11 PM

I keep getting MAGIX offers popping up on login to my account. I thought I had turned these off but just done an install/repair to force the Win22H2 Win11 update - don't ask! But Microsoft?? Now Magix is getting as irrating as MS. I have purchased the latest Video Editor 2023. And I am now getting more special. Offers went into settings Apps but couldn't see notifications on MAGIX. Went into notifications but Magix not listed. Sorry people but Magix is really annoying me. I have better things to do than all this administration - I just want to use my PC usefully - using the Apps for what they are used for. Not turning of messages etc. Any ideas. Thanks

Hi

Did you read the topic linked to by @PATIENT-X in your previous post?

When you upgraded the Magix Cloud Import / Update Notifier was re-installed.

I have turned of the notifications/hide in the app itself. This pop up is coming from the Magix Updater Notifier !! But why is it telling me an offer on 2023 Video Editor when I have it? If I remove the update notifier I will no longer have these irritating notifications. BUT it may not let me know of updates for patches/security issues. I'm afraid this approach of Magix means I am not a happy bunny in this instance.

Hi

. . . . But why is it telling me an offer on 2023 Video Editor when I have it? . . . .

The information is a generic advert and knows nothing about what you have installed.

Notification of patches for the installed editor come from within the editor program. If you are not using the Cloud Import or Camera MX feature then you can uninstall it.

I'm having annoying issues with MMS 2023 as well.

On every start, I get the Installations Manager trying to start.

Also, on closedown, I get the annoying Black Weeks popup. I presume Blackweeks will eventually stop but I want to get rid of it, and the Installation Manager popup, now.

I have uninstalled Magix Cloud Import and I cannot see the Update Notifier running. There is nothing relevant in the Task Manager Startup tab.

If anybody has any suggestions or thoughts I'd be grateful.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Did you uninstall all versions of the Magix Cloud Import previously known as Update Notifier, Magix Connect, Magix Network Sync ?

Is the Hide news option in the program settings checked?

BTW the startup does not necessarily appear in the Task Manager, Startup tab. You may find it in the registry under

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Greetings,

You may already know this and apologies if you do.

At the bottom of the popup Black Weeks window there is a check box with alternatives like (from memory) show this advert, don't show this advert and don't show adverts.

Hope this helps - AndyW

@johnebaker

See this comment.

Resetting the dialogues and dealing with that (illogical) prompt fixed the Installation Manager prompt on start up.

Is the Hide news option in the program settings checked?

It wasn't, but it is now. That fixed the Black Weeks propaganda after shutdown.

I'm on my 12.5" laptop as I'm isolation with a dose of the Rona, and guess what? The Black Weeks box is so big the bottom much be hiding below my task bar, and I can't drag it high enough to expose it. I'm already on screen max res and 100% magnification so I guess they just didn't think about screen sizes when they made that ad. I now seem to recall a similar tick-off system on a previous ad, but which I would've seen on my big monitor.

Thanks both.

Sorry to hear you're suffering from a bug other than Magix, Alwyn. Hope you're not feeling too bad and can soon rejoin society to use a bigger screen.
