How to top FABS from loading?

lighthope wrote on 4/17/2016, 2:41 PM

Okay, how do you kill this obnoxious litlte programme, FABS.exe?

It always loads itself and if you get rid of it from the startup, it reinstalls itself when you run Movie Magix.

I get what it's supposed to do, but I don't want it running and eating up my memory and processes when I am not actually running Movie Magix.

Hi

You do not need to stop this from running continuously - the resource usage is minimal when it is idle - see below

Memory usage is a miserly 6.5 MB - ie less than 0.08% of total memory with 8GB of RAM - and it is not using any other resources.

The gain in stopping it would not be detectable.

Thank you for the reply, but that didn't really answer the question I had posed.

Yes, I know it uses little resources.

I don't want it there, and it is obnoxious of Magix to put it there.

I want to get rid of it.

Hi

. . . . I don't want it there, and it is obnoxious of Magix to put it there. . . .

If you want to use the Magix software you need that service running - it is the Firebird database that Magix sofware uses to store all the information about what is on the timeline, whether this is video, images or audio, what effects are used where cuts are etc.

When you save a project the information in the Firebird database is written out to the project file.

When you load a project file you are putting the information back into the database ready to continue editting.

No FABS = crippled Magix software.
