How to set up Sound Forge Pro 17 (x64) to record audio?

Tomislav-Tomic wrote on 2/12/2025, 4:24 PM

I have two sound cards in my computer 1. E-MU 1616M PCI-e 2. Focusrite Clarett+ 4 Pre. No way to set the sound cards to record in the modes Microsoft Soun Mapper, Direct Sound Sound Mappr, Windows Classic Wave Mapper, E-MU Asio and Focusrite USB Asio. I have Adobe Audition on my other computer and it can be set to record from the analog, SPDIF input. I need it for the purpose of digitizing master tapes with Revox PR99 high speed. Thank you in advance for your answers.

Best regards!

@Tomislav-Tomic Please check the Windows security settings. There you need to enable microphone access for desktop apps before Sound Forge can record audio.

Yes, access is granted

@Tomislav-Tomic The switch for desktop apps is at the bottom and not visible on your screenshot. The section on your screenshot is for Microsoft Store apps.

@Tomislav-Tomic Ok, now select the Audio device driver for the sound card you want to use in the Sound Forge Audio device settings, click on the Apply button to enable the driver. Then you can click on the buttons to configure the inputs and outputs.

None of that helps!

@Tomislav-Tomic For Focusrite please select the Focusrite ASIO driver.

This is a real horror! None of the options are working!

No matter what driver I choose it won't record! It works on Adobe Audition 21 but SF 17 won't!

It neither records what is heard from the computer nor the input in the sound card!

@Tomislav-Tomic Show us screenshots, please. Select Focus ASIO, click Apply, click on the Advanced button, open the ASIO driver control panel and configure your device correctly.
