Trying to install Xara Designer Pro v19.0. Wants to Remove the program which has already been uninstalled. Error code 1610 says there is an error, no kidding, like I do not know that already. I have found no way to resolve this and Magix Tech Support is the worst ever. No one has a solution. I am screwed.

Hello, Welcome

Error 1610 is possibly a failed installation or uninstalled program which has left invalid entries in your registry.

Try using the free Revo uninstaller to uninstall everything including remnants from the program in registry and then reinstall.

Revo uninstall instructions here.

I have uninstalled all previous Xara and Magix software. Then I used RegEdit to strip all references to either of those applications and I think I got them all. Still I cannot get pas that error message and Magix tech support is terrible. They will not guide me through any procedure to correct that prompt. I use Designer Pro to maintain my website and now I am screwed as I cannot get the program loaded in order to update my website. Am seriously needing to change software for maintaining my website. Is there an alternative that will allow me to open my .Xar or .Web files to edit them for upload?

I would wholeheartedly endorse the specific recommendation that @PATIENT-X made, to use Revo Uninstaller to carry out a thorough search of your hard drive(s) to fully remove any and all references to any previous installation. Because you really need the Advanced mode of Revo you may need to consider getting the Pro (paid for) version though I think there is a free trial. I realise you say you have uninstalled all previous Xara and Magix software. Then I used RegEdit to strip all references ...  You do admit that you think you got them all!

Doing a little further research on that error code led to this page (you will need to scroll down it to find the specific code). I think this suggests the problem could be with your Windows installation. Have you checked that all Windows Updates necessary for your system are fully installed? If so, you might like to run, from a Command Prompt or via the Windows Powershell the system file checker; you would need to enter "sfc \scannow" (without the inverted commas).

The file formats of your .xar and .web files are proprietary so there is no other software that is able to open them, sorry.

You say Magix tech support is terrible. Can you explain a little more about this, please? i.e., how did you contact them and what exact response did you receive?
