How to replace a section of a multicam video using Movie Edit Pro 2013 Plus version 12.0.2.2

alexaa wrote on 12/7/2012, 11:11 AM

I have successfully completed a multicam edit including audio sync and switching between the two videos (track 3/4 and 5/6) to create the desired video cuts in track 1 (I set a master audio track on track 6).

After I finished editing and reviewing the video I wanted to swap out one video section (area with the red rectangle on the screenshot) on track 1 with the video on track 5 (area with the pruple rectangle on the screenshot) for that section.  I have tried using "replace an object's source", "insert cut" and "overwrite range" (page 105 and 106 in pdf manual) without success.

Please let me know if and how I can do this.

I have an PC with  and I7-2600K CPU,  Intel video chip on the motherboard, 8GB RAM, Windows 8

Thanks,

Al

alexaa,

I've not done much multicam work but had a try with 'replace an object's source' and found no problem following the directions on page 105 (MEP 2013 pdf help). I selected what would be your red outlined object and then clicked, in the preview window, the panel that shows your track 5. Only slight surprise was, since the replacement was from the same source as the part before it and after, MEP combined the three into one continuous object.

Perhaps if you can give more detail of what happens (does anything happen at all?) someone with more multicam experience might be able to offer more help.

Regards,

Carl

I think my error was that I assumed when you selected the video object in track 1 to be replaced, that would control  what was replaced.  I tried it again with adjusting the "in" and "out" markers to match the desired object and that seemed to work.  Still trying to get the hang of it.   I have a one frame gap in the video when I tried the procedure using the markers.

Thanks for your rapid response.
