How to pitch shift with Music Maker 2020 on a laptop

With Music Maker 2013 I could change the pitch a half step at a time of a recording by right clicking on the recording and selecting pitch / tempo and putting in a + or - number equating to the number of half steps it wanted to change. On 2020 Ver.28.0.2.47 the manual says to use NumLock and the + and - keys. My laptop does not have a numeric keyboard. I cannot find any other way to change pitch. Any suggestions? So far doing the things that were routine for me on 2013 have been a challenge with 2020. Not too happy with the new version so far.

Select the object you want to pitch and press "E" for open the object effects. In object effects activate "tempo/pitch/resample" in the list on the left side. there you can pitch the object.

When I press E I get the section at the bottom which has Effects but only a few, see attached. If I right click on the object and select Pitch / Tempo the selections are grayed out and it describes using Num Lock + and -. See attached. Any ideas?
