How to match volume levels on multiple objects

jcvideo wrote on 10/15/2012, 3:30 PM

When I have 2 wave objects (e.g. background music), then often the volume needs to be reduced from the default (full) setting (no problem here). When the 1st wave finishes the 2nd wave object needs to start at the same level. How can I find out what audio level the 1st has been set to and how can I start with the same level at the second wave?

I guess its gonna get even more complicated when using wave-curves, e.g. going up or down at the end of a wave and starting the 2nd wave matching the 1st object's volume. How, or impossible?

Hi

Try selecting each audio track ,right click, select Normalize

This should bring the audio to the same levels.

Hi,

Are you using this handy feature?

That automatically applies the reduction, with appropriate fades to the adjacent sections of the music track.

Hi

@Terry -  thanks for that, I posted my answer with part of it missing .  which should be

After normalizing the audio clips and adjusting the level of the first using the volume curve you can set the start of the second one to the same level of the first - zoom in vertically and drag the volume curve to the same level as the end of the first audio clip, then adjust the rest as you require as shown in the image below (this is from MEP 2013 - other versions are similar).
