Hi

To group a selection of photos depends on their location and order on the timeline ie:

  • A contiguous sequence - select (left click) the first in the sequence then, while holding the Shift key down, select the last one then click the group icon

  • Non contiguous (random) photos - select the first photo to be in the group then, while holding down the Ctrl  key, left click all those to be in the group, then click the group icon.

But there isn't a group icon on the toolbar like in my copy on Movie Edit Pro. That's the problem

I have Photo Story Deluxe. I normally use Movie Edit Pro for photos and video projects as that programme has the group/ungroup icons

jostval wrote on 12/6/2024, 10:25 AM

i think it is 2018. However looking at screen shots of other versions none seem to show the group or ungroup icons either?

@jostval

Hi,

Look under Help, About for the Version. I have an old version 30.0.1.62 and it has group/ungroup buttons.

Please post a screen shot of the interface in timeline mode.

@jostval

Hi

Are you looking at the timeline in Storyboard mode?

The group icons are only available in Timeline mode.

Hi John

. . . . old version 30.0.1.62 . . . .

Looks like the version numbering format has been updated to match MMS, the first 2 digits being the release year,

I’ll check tomorrow and update you. Thanks for your help so far

jostval wrote on 12/7/2024, 3:57 AM

My version is 16.1.1.31 (UPD3). Screenshot doesn't show any group icons in timeline mode

emmrecs wrote on 12/7/2024, 4:01 AM

@jostval

Once you have followed the advice on how to select the photos you wish to group, try pressing Ctrl+G. This is the normal Magix shortcut.

However, I have no idea whether this will work in your version, sorry.

Thanks but this doesn't work. Also when i highlight any clip on the timeline and move it, ALL the clips that follow move with it. Very frustrating. Hence why I use Movie Edit Pro for photoshows. Disappointing though

@jostval

HI

From the version number you have either Photostory 2016 or 2017.

AFAICS neither version has the feature to group objects.

To get the grouping feature you need to update to a newer version eg Phtostory 2025 which you can purchase for the upgrade price as you already have a version of the program.
