How to export mp3 48KHz 192 Kbps with Sound Forge 16

The only option seems to be 44K. I know most programs will automatically play the correct length, but Windows Explorer and some other players indicate the wrong playing duration of the file when using 44K. I have always used 48K with earlier versions, as I am coming from Video files where that is the standard.

@Blaine-WItherow

Hi

There are 2 options:

Using Save As option - select the file format, click the Custom button (1) - see image below - select the preset option at (2), and name and save as a preset (3) for future use.

Using the Export option - change the settings as shown below - you can use whatever suffix you need for the name to avoid overwriting the original and can save this as a preset for use with the Export option.

Hi @Blaine-WItherow.
the MP3 encoder was (simplified) in SF v16>17. If one prefers to encode an MP3 in other than the limited dumb-down parameters, the legacy MP3 encoder can be re-enabled by choosing "Activate legacy MP3 plug-in" in the (hidden) 'Internal' menu,
Hold down the 'Shift' key whilst selecting "Options> Preferences" to reveal the 'Internal' tab. Type 'MP3' in the search field to fast find the entry. Select the entry and change the Value field from "FALSE" to "TRUE".

btw, changing the rendering sample rate will not change the length, pitch and speed. If the playback device's sample rate is different than the file', the sound would be changed,
