How To Edit A WMV File?

abrogard wrote on 9/10/2017, 6:24 AM

I have some .wmv files produced by my microscope software: Amscope.

I want to edit them in Magix but I can't figure out how to do it.

I start a new project.

Then I get up the media pool window (which is a nuisance, it seems stuck to the right side of the screen and I can't see the filenames well and I can't undock it and move it).

then I find one of the files and import it by dragging it onto the preview window which seems the only place where it will go.

It flashes up and starts running, seems to be there alright.

But whatever I do with the sliders and whatnot underneath the pic in order to find how to scroll through quickly and identify bits I want/don't want, go to certain places, etc... i.e. just begin the editing process...

all I get is a black screen and I can never get back that original running movie..

what am I doing wrong?

how to go about editing it?

Since the originator has now clearly found the answer to this question (as demonstrated in another thread) this thread is now locked.

Hi

We need more information:

What is the full name and version number of Movie Edit Pro as found under Help, About . . .

Analyse one of the WMV files with MediaInfo and paste the results from the Text view of MediaInfo.

. . . . I find one of the files and import it by dragging it onto the preview window . . .

You must add a video file, by clicking the Down arrow that appear in the set of 3 icons when you hover the mouse over the video file in the media pane, or dragging it to the timeline in order for it to import.

Dragging to the Preview monitor is the same as clicking the play button that appears under the video when hover the mouse over it.
