How to correctly write subchunks for regions and marks programmatica

CLEGER wrote on 1/16/2025, 5:45 AM

I'm a SoundForge user but I'm also a developer and I'm making an application that
makes modifications to wav sound files that have regions. From my application I can correctly read the regions and marks made by SoundForge but when I save the file
with the modifications and save the subchunks (cue, etc.) with the region
information, it opens correctly in other programs but not in SoundForge 16. I've
compared the results of the files and they're identical but when I open it in
SoundForge it doesn't show me any regions.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, if someone could provide me with the structure in which
the region information is stored in the file or help me with this situation,
I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

@CLEGER

Hi

. . . . I don't know what I'm doing wrong, if someone could provide me with the structure in which
the region information is stored in the file or help me with this situation, . . . .

Please note this is a user to user forum, not Magix Support.

I would suggest to contact Magix Support, link is at the top of the page, scroll down to the bottom of the pages to select Contact Support, Email Support etc as you work your way through the forms.

Dear Customer,

Free personalised support for Sound Forge Pro 16 is no longer available as it is older than 24 months.
We hope for your understanding and can only recommend to use the other resources that are available through MAGIX:

MAGIX Help Center  & VEGAS Help-Center

MAGIX Online-Tutorials & VEGAS Online-Tutorials

@CLEGER Maybe create a new ticket and ask for a way to contact the developers to get specifics on the file format or try the http://www.vegascreativesoftware.info forum. I think the Vegas devs are pretty active there and they are the same developers who made Sound Forge.

I would guess the support simply closed the ticket because SF 16 is too old without reading much of the rest of your request.

Sound Forge Audio Studio or Sound Forge Pro? Are you referring to Markers or Regions? Either way, in the 'Save' or 'Save as' the window, is the 'Save metadata with file' field check marked?

SoundForge Pro. It's not a Sound Forge problem, it's how I save the file. I'll find the answer. Thanks
