How to convert the MTS to M2TS using MEP MX plus ver 11

Using Sony AVCHD handycam, I got my files as 001.MTS to say, 050.MTS; I dragged all these files into time line and I joined all of these files; Now, I need to either convert them into a Single M2TS file or save these 50 odd files into a single file and make it as XXX.m2ts. How do I do it?

2) The reason is: I do not want MEP MX plus to encode the MTS files often, if I need to prepare 5 sets of different DVDs or output, based on the various faces that appear in these 50 video shots. I assume or read it that once we convert these files into MPEG, then stress to encode each time is reduced a lot. Any feedback is apprecaited.

From a quick Google on file format differences:

"They are the same. You can rename one to the other. *.MTS conforms to the DOS 8.3 file name in those device which requires it." and "When you are talking about AVCHD, there is no difference between the mts and m2ts files except other than the filename."

MEP 14 offers a batch conversion so it might be sensible to convert them all to you final DVD quality MPEG before you start editing.

I am assuming the ver 11 in the question title is a typo as MEP MX is ver 18.

If you want an m2ts file exporting then:

Select File, Export movie, Video as mpeg4.

Select from the top drop down AVCHD transport stream (NTSC or PAL as required)

Set the filename and path where you want the file saved.

Click the Advanced button and check the Smart Render option in the dialog that opens.

Ok all dialogs to export the movie as m2ts
