How to change default "MAGIX" folder? It's in my OneDrive.

Hi,

My Music Maker Premium Edition was setup using the default paths. On my pc, my OneDrive is the default location for all Documents.

It turns out that this \Document\MAGIX\Music Maker\ path that has two subfolders that contain temp and cache files for the ShopManager. Everytime I close out Music Maker, the temp files get deleted and OneDrive starts telling me I have mass deletions. It's simply annoying.

I went into the Program Settings -> Folders and changed every path location to another SSD Drive with D:\MAGIX as the root folder (see below):

I then went into my Documents folder and deleted the MAGIX folder. When I launched MM, the default directory was recreated and re-downloaded additional stuff for the store (temp files and cache files):

I haven't checked any registry paths or anything, but if there is a way to stop Music Maker from using the default "Documents" folder, that would be great.

Thanks.

@FloopDoopZoop

Hi.

. . . my OneDrive is the default location for all Documents . . . .

This is the root cause of the issues you are having, the program looks for the default Documents folder, as set up in Windows, in your case OneDrive and uses this.

See this Microsoft article.

Found the fix:

The problem could have been avoided right from the initial installation. Here's what I did for the fix,

  1. Uninstall my existing installation.
  2. Launch the Music Maker installar
  3. Select "CHANGE DEFAULT SETTINGS" at the "Welcome to Music Maker" screen
  4. Modify the "USER FILES" path
  5. Complete the installation

Now that I've deleted the MAGIX folder in my %UserProfile%/Documents/MAGIX directory, everything is fine and there is no more conflict with OneDrive trying to sync and resync deleted temp files.
