how to capture short play video

julia99r wrote on 2/3/2013, 6:35 AM

I am a newbie  - Have Magix Video Easy Ver 1.0.4.3.

Am running XP Home Edition   SP3

I've finally managed to copy a few of our family videos to DVD. When I tried to do another one,  the preview of the video is playing at double the speed and sounds like chipmonks (no I not playing it at 2x).  I am presuming it has been taken as a "short play" video ??  Is there a way that I can capture the video and copy it to dvd at normal speed

Thanks kindly

Julia

Hi

This may seem an odd question but - was the video captured with the VCR/camera running at 2x normal speed?

Quite a common problem with some VCR's and cameras which play at double speed if you press the play button twice.

Does the captured video file play OK in Windows Media Player?

Your question wasnt odd at all !!!  I appreciate your response !!!   But something odder is I tried these videos 10 times, stopped the video player and ejected tape and retried, rebooted my computer, tried other programs to view and they all viewed double time. (I didnt know how to play it with WMP)..

So I just tried after receiving your response and one worked fine and was at normal speed.  The other one didnt, but i tried using other programs and then back to Magix without touching the video player and it worked fine...

In all circumstances I made sure I didnt press the video player "play" button twice...

Must have gremlins in the house I think !!!    But I do appreciate your response and prompting me to try them again.  I would have given up probably.

Thank you so much, I feel like a bit of a dill... lol

Hi

Thanks for coming back with a response.

It has just occurred to me that this particular video may have been recorded in long play mode and the VCR does not or cannot recognise it as being long play.

Is thie VCR you are using the same one as the original recording was done on?

If you play the double speed video from the VCR to a TV is it also double speed?

Once you have captured a video it should be saved on the computer as a video file, where depends on where Video Easy saves recordings.

Seeing the videos seemed to be working when I tried them last, i'm going to play them again in the morning and see if i can copy and save them to file (as you said).

Its just the wierdest thing that one minute they play double time and the next they play at normal speed without me touching the video player or altering any settings.

The video was taken with a video camera, and has been played to TV and was normal speed.

But i'll see how i go in the morning and hopefully they still work ok as they did last thing tonight.  Thanks again so much for taking the time to respond to my query.
