Hi,

I don't have this new version yet; I am using Audio & Music Lab Premium, which is the previous version.

To be clear, a waveform is a graphical display of an audio "Object." Each object will have its own waveform.

At the top of the effects screens, right in the middle, are 2 buttons, Project and Object. Select Object. There is no "Track" mode, as far as I know, only Project, so an effect in Project mode affects all tracks.

Magix has been adding more tracks over the years, but seems to have forgotten to change the modes to have Project, Track, and Object. We should request this.

If you want to apply an effect to only part of an object, you have to split the object. The shortcut is T. Read up on splitting/cutting objects. Then select the object that you want to apply the effect to.

You will have to keep in mind whether or not you are in project (track) mode or object mode, even though the button is turned on. I keep forgetting and I apply effects to the Project when I want Object, and to Object when I want Project.

HTH

Having just downloaded and installed the trial version of the new SF ACL (since it is being touted as the update to my previous Video Sound Cleaning Lab) I can confirm that everything @browj2 wrote in his reply is still entirely applicable to this new version.

@emmrecs

I just installed and checked the new version as well. Everything that I had before seems to be there, including the same spectral editor. Different from VSCL, you will now be able to add VST's (both VST2 and VST3).

Surpise, surprise. I just tested this with VPX and it worked properly - the wave file in VPX was updated correctly. Yes!

Hi John.

Thanks for this update. Can I now beg a favour?? You wrote:

Good news indeed, but how exactly did you get the VPX audio file to open in SF ACL? I know I've done this transfer of audio between editors before but I honestly can't remember how, and the built-in VPX help talks of using the Effects>Audio Effects screen and selecting "Edit in external editor" but there is no such option!

As for the VST2s and VST3s now usable in ACL, indeed they are (and I have a very long list of them now showing as accessible!!)

Hi Jeff,

Sorry, in my excitement, I forgot to mention that the bug is still there in VPX (and MEP); the command for Edit in external editor does not show up with a right-click. The workaround is to put the audio on its own track, mute any other tracks that have audio that you don't want to edit, and do a mixdown, Shift+D. This creates the wave file and the command for Edit in external editor will show up on it with a right-click.

Let me know if this works for you.
