Hi,

Magix MEP cannot handle srt file for subtitle you must use to create subtitle a program like Inqscribe or Subtitle Edit which is free. I prefer to use a video program with the subtitle function integrated in than try to play with many programs to work.

YR

OK...Thank you, despite the bad news ... I am sad because the program is extraordinary.

Hi,

Why do you need to use a .srt file.  you can make subtitles in MEP as large as you want to and there are many different fonts to choose from.  Help me understand the problem you are having a little better and perhaps I can suggest how you can do it without going to a third party program.  By the way, I often create titles and subtitles in other video editors that have more title functionality than MEP, export them as video files (usually .mp4) with a black, green, or white background, depending on the colors of the title then chroma key out the background, and insert the title where I want it to be using size and position.

ps.  You are right this is an extraordinary appliction and it does many things but for those things that it cannot do, there are always work around, and I hope I can help you find a workaround for the problem you are having.  Just give me a little more information please!

Hi

Just to clarify:-

MEP does not support srt files as YR stated.

You do not need to use third party software to create subtitles, MEP has its own titles which you can use to make static, scrolling or dynamic sub titles with.

What you cannot do is have the option to switch subtitles On/Off - if you want this then a work around is to duplicate the movie by adding another movie to the project - File, Manage movies, New and when asked do not close the current project/movie.

Then copy and paste all the objects from movie 1 to movie 2 and add the subtitles to movie 2 - you can also rename the movies - see image below.

When you come to burn a DVD/BD you will find you have two options on the main DVD menu page - one will play the movie without subtitles and the other with.

Example multi movie timeline showing 4 of 7 movies in a project renamed.

I have the same problem... e.g there is a video... And on the internet I found a subtitle for it but it is as srt format... so how can I combine this srt file with the movie? Is there any plugins for that purpose? I wish  MEP should have srt management too...

Secondly ı want to export my subtitiles as text or srt too as ı want to share these subtitles as text only since they are lyrics...
