I have just upgraded to the Suite from Platinum 2023 with the promise of getting NewBlue FX included. But I can't work out how to access the fx. I tried adding their folder to the VST path, but that just froze MSS completely and also may have been involved in also freezing Thunderbird.
S please, how do I get access to Newblue FX, please?

Oh Dear!
First undo that folder link. Vst plugins are audio plugins for the audio mixer, not video.
You should see in the effects section of the editor, the icon for that set of plugins (Use the Icon view, not the list view). If you click on the plugin in question you should see a download button to the right of that. Click on the download button and proceed from there.

AH. OK. I have worked with Audio apps for many years and did not realise that vst was Audio only. I reckon the App behaviour could be a little better then to just lock up...however. I am not sure that there is anything to undo, as the lockup may well have caused failure of my attempt. But I will reset the vst setting to default.
I checked the FX in icon view and I cannot see what is Newblue and what not. I seem to have the same FX as my Platinum.
Ah! When I boot up the Suite, I am told that in the full version I can download all extra resources or words to that effect. Is that how I grab Newblue and others? I do, however, have a folder in Program Files that is all of Newblue stuff.

No, I am sorry, Ray. I look at Extra FX and all I see is Plugins and Scan, Plugins I have tried with the previous problems. Scan just says it can't find anything. A manual search of Plugins gives no results if I choose the folder "c:\program files\newbluefx" as the folder. There are many files in the folder, and many of them dll's.
Earlier Nick, you said did you need to download all extra resources. I would not say all. I have not bothered with travel maps of the demo project but the rest I think you should if you are not getting those icons as the download managers for those applications should be in among those somewhere if they have not downloaded with the base program. In truth I have never not? [Edit, always 🤣] downloaded the majority of those files on setting up the program so have never experienced what you seem to be seeing.
I'm no programmer and only know that dynamic link library files are definitely needed for apps to communicate but beyond that is above my pay grade 😂.

I will try to stay up until 01:00 tonight and do the download. My Satellite Web is severely limited in data limit and it's only "after midnight" that I get to download GB.

Yes my brain often works backwards and forwards at the same time and I'm not always aware of which is in charge at any one moment 🤪🤣.
Good luck with the downloads, There is one set somewhere in the middle which is particularly slow compared to the rest of them. I think that folder is around the 550 to 600MB range if I remember correctly. I have no idea why but be prepared, nothing is wrong unless it times out. Then again that may be happening just at my end due to my geographical location compared to where the servers are and may not affect you at all. If you do have difficulties, email infoservice@magix.net and ask for the direct download address.

I am in Perth, Western Australia. 10+ years ago my wife went to Vietnam and found that their Web is 5-10 x better than ours. ours is still crap. So yeah I sympathise.
I have yet to try the auto link but I will use that address if needed and thank you.

Nick, carefully look at the list of downloadable extras. If you don't use something eg templates, don't bother. For my purposes, all that stuff is gigabytes of fluff and wasted disk space. None of the standard program downloads available will cure your newblue issue.
I've recently installed MMS2023 and have a Newblue button in the Extra Effects area. I see that in my order email, there are coupon codes and instructions for Newblue Essentials and Stylizer eg Help>Activate content packs takes you to the magix store, where you put in your email coupon. I suggest you have a re-read of your email and follow the instructions for the Newblue stuff. Perhaps then your NB effects will appear in MMS2023 for downloading.
The Newblue folders on your C drive are probably from your Platinum installation. I don't know why they are not being picked up by the Suite.

Thanks for the additional info on the plugins. I had forgotten about the additional download links in the emails.
It's been a while since I downloaded anything extra as I find I have already got the additional effects from previous upgrades.
Don't discount the additional third party plugins. I have found some of them very useful in cleaning up both soft focus video and better contrast control than using the basic effects on offer within the program, not forgetting the stabilizer which is way better than is currently in MS. Yes they can be very processing intensive but can on occasion rescue footage may have otherwise been discarded as unusable. The green screen effect in one plugin is also much better than the standard offering.
I may put such file up as a challenge to improve it.

OK. Back again. This is....messy. I now have NB Stylizers working and thanks for all your help, but after several attempts I cannot get Essentials to show up.
I have rebooted the PC, let alone restarted the programme as instructed.
I got to the stage with Stylizers where I could see them, but had a watermark. I registered with NB (confusingly asked to Buy and taken to a page that had nothing to do with the product I was looking at.)
I have downloaded Essentials twice, then tried to fix things using the box in Extra FX with the down arrow.
Annoyingly I had all the NB FX files on my HDD already and feel that I wasted $40, but it would seem this is a licensing/money thing?
I have been hanging around watching the conversation here, and I am picking up stuff. But still no NewBlue Essentials. BAH!
There have been questions asked about this. I see that the Essentials I have bought are a "Light" version. What is missing I do not know.
All the additional from Magix have been installed. But I am not sure I can see _those_ either. If I fire up my older non-suite version, I seem to get the same suitecase, so to speak, and that app says I have _not_ installed all the extras.

Nick, I can verify this. Trying to get Essentials installed is a nightmare. Back and forth, they download but then are watermarked, and then can be downloaded again. Meanwhile, you close the program as it tells you to and here's the Newblue website looking at you for a login. I also noticed the Ultimate Light. That's not as good as Ultimate Heavy, I suppose! 😎 I'll keep trying and report back.

Generally, you won't see those specifically. Most of them are additional bits and pieces to things such as titles, fades/transitions, music tracks for the soundtrack maker, and DVD menu template items. If only getting this NewBlue stuff into Magix was as easy as the extra content.
OK. I have now gone to Magix Support (who will no doubt refer me to NewBlue! BAH!) and I am awaiting a reply.
They need to be aware of this crap. Both of them, probably.
This seems to happen whenever one mob tries to use another mob to "manage" (mangle) installations.

And yeah I sort of figured that the other addons were not going to be so obvious. MY problem is that in Platinum, I can still install them, but in Suite, they are all shown as installed. But for all of me the FX available are the same.

This is crazy. After my failure with Essentials, I tried with New Blue "Filters". I clicked the white Download arrow and went through the installation process to the end. Then, the download arrow disappeared off the NB "Filters" button. Great, I thought. On the New Blue account screen, it showed an update to "Filters" so I downloaded and updated that, going through the same procedure. But after it had all finished, the dreaded white download button had re-appeared!
All the effects for "Essentials" and "Filters" have been installed, but both have white download buttons and when I try to use an effect, there's a red cross watermark across the screen. Clicking on the white download button/arrow for each merely recommences the above sequence with the same result. I'm not going to do it again as I will have to categorise myself as insane, according to Albert Einstein.
For those who have these installed and fully functional on MMS 2023, do you have the white download buttons/arrows shown in Ray's image above, or are your New Blue buttons in the Extra Effects dropdown clear of any arrows?

Newblue confirm that is what they call "The Magix Bug" but strangely they say they are working on a patch (for essentials anyway which is the one I queried)
I would suggest you raise a ticket with NewBlue. Excellent customer service. Within 24 hours I had 2 replies and a result - well almost - and that's with a 7 hour time delay between continents.

The "Light" part is definitely not what I was led to believe I was getting.
On both Essentials and Stylisers, even when that last one worked, I still see download arrows and they won't go away.

Wow! I have just checked my emails and I was having almost exactly the same problem back in July 2019! With NBFX stuff again.
My emails suggest that they asked for a screen shot of the Application Mangler and I sent one....since then, chirping crickets. Maybe I just got a refund.
Are they really working on this and how long is it going to take.

OK. Finally, by disabling my Virus and Firewall, along with Auto Containment, I managed to install the Essentials. The arrow did not go away. Online I see the product as Activated....but the watermarks are still there.....

I finally gave up on this. Every step came with its own disaster, different from the last and in now way pertaining to actually progressing in getting work done, or my own ignorance, AFAICS.
It became one of those situations where I would get one step then get a different problem when trying to move on. There are times where I will fight for my goal.... and then there are others.
I am awaiting word on a refund on the Suite portion of Movie Studio

If you are talking of my problems, I doubt it: I would hope that Newblue tech support would have mentioned this. I can't see this failure to install at all would go with specs. If it does that''s a pretty appalling way to do things.I could _run_ the FX at one stage, but got the watermark and could not solve it. I have had these problems for 3-4 years, back when my machine was not that ancient.

I have personally found that it pays to look at the specs of offered third party plugins as well as the main program which can be quite different. Also the life of the offered plugin. Some seem perpetual until they won't work on a given operating system while others may only have licence for a year or two. It's unusual to see specific amounts of vram as a requirement for set resolutions in a third party plugin. I would look at it as I would a separate purchase, especially as I would be paying extra for it. This may not be the reason as @me_again also seems to be having problems but I find it curious not everyone seems to be suffering these problems (or maybe they just haven't tried out those plugins) so there must be a reason behind it.
If you can give me a specific title or two to try out, I'll see if I'm suffering but I haven't noticed. Maybe I don't have those specific titles.

Maybe we are talking at cross purposes. I agree with what you say in that the machine specs need to be looked at when trying to use addons.
But the problems I am having are not with the running of the addons, but with making them available in the first place. Also, as I said, I have had them running, but the watermark is still there. In trying to get rid of the watermarks, I usually lost the plugins again.
I cannot imagine that this would be a specs issue. Newblue's tech support made no such suggestion, but instead were trying to get me to uninstall and reinstall.
