How modify same buttons?

Hi,

In templates (e.g. "HD static > Default 16:9" or "Animated HD > The Beach") are buttons ("go to ChaptersMenu" or "return to "FilmMenu - see photo) which haven't in context menu element "Properties".

I's any possibility to change their background or something or I must just delete this button and add my self (e.g. as in Terrypin's tutorial)?

Best Regards

Darek

Hmm, anything wrong with the site this morning? I replied a moment ago, with screenshot links, yet it has not appeared. If it doesn't turn up I'll try again later today.

(2nd attempt seems to have survived. I think there was a magix.info problem with the image uploader.)

Hi Darek,

Many DVD menu templates have elements that apparently were not intended to be customised, and so have no access to their properties.

But what exactly do you want to do? Presumably not change font, which would clash with other text? You mention possibly changing the background. Well, as that Chapter button is transparent, how about just moving it to a new location? That's what I've done in this example, after switching from Preview to Edit mode:

Or here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4019461/MEP-DVD-Button-Move-1.jpg

And, of course, you could now drag a corner to resize it.

If you're adventurous or inquisitive (and brave), you could experiment with the two files
_MenuAlpha_.bmp
_MenuPicture_.bmp
which should be in the folder you've specified here:

Or here:

If you're even braver, you could also experiment with editing the menu's movie file, for example: beach_bgani.mp4, which on my PC is located here:
C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2016 Premium\DVD\Layout\2012_beach\beach_bgani.mp4
For example, add a solid or semi-transparent coloured rectangle of the same size as the button and then move the button over that.

Or, if none of these allow you to get the appearance you have in mind, you will indeed have to either find an alternative template or design and add your own button to your chosen template. I assume the tutorial of mine you mentioned was this?

Hi Terry,

...what exactly do you want to do?

Generally, I will change text without changing font (e.g. "Play" or "Chapters" to my language).

Thank you for suggestions especially for path:

C:\ProgramData\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro 2016 Premium\DVD\Layout\...

which shows where are located templates.

I see, that non editable button there are simply image files (bmp). Each button has 3 files (e.g. button "Chapters" in templates "The Beach" has "beach_submenu.bmp", "beach_submenu_alpha.bmp", "beach_submenu_highlight.bmp"), so to change button, I must make 3 new files and than copy (exchange) on templates folder. (but in the way I change not button in my "project disc menu" only in whole templates)

It's unfortunate that Magix Team, making templates, not has thought, about no English (and no German) language MEP users :(

Terry, again thanks you for help

Darek
