How long to burn 3d video

DCBK wrote on 5/25/2013, 8:28 PM

I am attempting to use MEP 2013 Premium to burn my first 3D video.  The video is about 28 mins long.  I have Samsung Blu-Ray Writer (506BB) that can write at 4X.  How long should I expect it to take to complete the entire burn process from time I click burn until it is completed?  Also, I understand if the video is less than 30 mins, I can use a standard DVD.  First, is that correct, 2nd, what do I need to do differently from the software side to be able to do that?  Sure would be cheaper.

Thanks for any input you are able to provide.

Hi

. . . . I understand if the video is less than 30 mins, I can use a standard DVD. . . . .

Yezs you can burn a BD movie less thsn 30 mins long to a standard DVD disc.

To answer you question - how long?

That depends a great deal on the number and type of transitions and effects you have used, whether the video has to be re-rendered, whether you have Smart rendering enabled and of course your PC specification.

The time taken can be anything from an hour to several hours depending on all the above.

Hi John,

Thanks for your answers.  I did fail to mention my PC equipment, kind of an important piece to leave out.  That is not a problem, it is powerful enough.

I did have a number of transitions in it.  Do you suggest having Smart rendering turned on or not?  I let it run during the night, so not sure how long it took because it was finished in the morning.  My first pass, Magix hung up, but I did not know for sure becuase the clock showing how long on the current step kept running for about 3 hours.

Thanks again.

Hi

That depends on your source video material and the final output format, however it does not hurt to leave it turned on.

Smart rendering only works when outputting the same format as the source video material.

As an example my video camera records AVCHD into the mts file format. When I create a Blu-Ray disc Smart Render will just copy the bits of video as required instead of re-rendering them.  Transitions and still images are still re-rendered.
