Hi,

You have not provided much detail but a 9 GB file is pretty big.  If you want to convert it from whatever format it is in to MPEG-4 why not use the free "any video converter".  Movie Edit Pro is not a file conversion application, it is a video editing application.  Once you have the file in the format that you want, bring it in to MEP and burn your disc.

knowmass,

I'd say it's impossible to even half guess, as you haven't said what format your video is in on the memory card, what version of MEP you are using, nor any information about your computer specs. And even then there are other factors such as additional programs you might be running at the same time.

First make sure you are copying the video from the memory card to the hard drive of your computer -- not going from memory card directly into MEP.

A suggestion: Use a conversion program to make your MPEG4 version rather than MEP which has to process (uncompress etc) the video in order to display it even if you're not going to do any editing. Many users recommend the free program 'Super' http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html.The site is tricky as there are 'free ads' for other converters throughout and its download link often just reloads the page. Another forum thread suggests some other download sites. http://www.magix.info/us/exporting-a-movie.knowledge.585028.html, this one seems OK http://www.videohelp.com/tools/SUPER

Hi,

To add to what Carl has asked, specifically what Operating System are you using (windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, etc.).

How much RAM do you have on your system.  If you know the make and model of your system, that would be good to know as well.  Since you say you already have the file downloaded, as Carl suggested, convert the file to MPEG-4 before you try to import it in to MEP.  Use the product I suggested (which is free) to do the conversion.

You can download it here

http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/

Since you already have the file on your computer, answering the questions about your Operating System, RAM etc will determine how long it is going to take to burn the DVD.  Your 9 GB file is almost twice the size of what will fit on a standard DVD so BlueRay is the only way you will get it on one disc.  For this part your system specs are very very importants as to if this will burn or not.

Good Luck,

George
