How does one get audio when editing with Movie Edit Pro 17?.

I am having difficulty with audio with Movie Edit Pro 17.  When I load a video file  to be edited, the preview playback in the upper left hand corner does not have audio.  The clip when moved to the time line reports "no audio."   When I export to an .mp2 file similarly I get no audio.  How do I get audio into my editing?

From your description it appears that the file you are trying to edit has no audio "within it".  Is that correct?

If so, where did this file come from?  Camera, downloaded from an internet site?  Does it contain any audio, or is the file "video only"?

Or, is it the case that MEP is simply not "playing" the audio?  If so, that's usually a problem with sample rate/bit depth, though if MEP/VPX detects an incompatible audio format it will normally not play the file at all.

So, we need much more detail about the actual file you are trying to edit (source, type, format etc) and a little more info about your computer would be useful.  (If you need to check whether the file definitely does or does not include an audio track "MediaInfo" (free - Google it) will be able to tell you exactly what the file's contents are.

You mention you exported the file to .mp2, apparently expecting to then hear the audio?  If MEP does not play any audio, nor will it "export" any audio.
