Hi,

You won't be able to import the video into music maker to create a music sound track for your video.  Export your music maker file as .mp3 or .wav for better audio quality, then import the audio file into your video editing program.  I am not sure what you mean by video fx menu, is this the Cyberlink product?  If you are using a freeware video editor, I suggest that you consider Movie Edit Pro because you can easily do this with it.

Hi,

Further to and a bit contrary to the reply from George, you can import video and audio into Music Maker (MM) but only certain formats. As per the MM manual, you can "load and export videos in the following formats: AVI, Windows Media (*.wmv, *.asf), MAGIX Video (*.mxv) and Quicktime Movie (*.mov)." So your video would have to be in one of these formats, as would the output. My video raw footage is all mts, and it cannot be imported into MM so I have to convert it first.

For audio, MM "loads and edits audio files in the formats Wave (.wav), OGG Vorbis (.ogg), Windows Media Audio (.wma), MPEG (.mpg), MP3 (.mp3) and CDA (audio CD tracks)."

My few tests of exporting to a video were not wildly successful. The image quality after export from MM seemed to be slightly reduced. The avi resolution brought in was 720x480, frame rate 29.97 fps, so that was the best that I could output to.

Since I have Movie Edit Pro (MEP), if I was just adding an MP3 to the video, I would only use MEP. I use MM if I want to add my own recordings, with audio effects, instruments, etc., available only in MM.

So, yes, you can import video into MM and you can combine it with audio to create a music sound track. But as George says, it is probably better export the resultant audio file and import it into your video editing program and complete the editing and final exporting there. You get a better product with more flexibility.

That said, I presume that you already have MM2014 and want to know how to start the process. Open MM, and find your video in either the File Browser in the Media Pool and open it or with Windows Explorer, find your file and drag and drop it onto track 1 of the timeline. It will go onto 2 tracks, 1 for the video and 1 for the audio.

Do the same with your MP3 and it will open onto track 3 or place it on track 3.

Now you have the 2 together. Press on the key F3 and select the tab "Video" to see the monitor.

You can then arrange your music to fit your video and then export the result.

You can even add some video effects, but not with any great precision. These are in the Media Pool under the tab "Templates" and then Video FX.

I suggest that you review the section in the pdf manual about Video and Bitmap objects.

Hope this helps. Please let us know how it works out.
