How do you import M4V files?

I have Magix Edit Pro 2015 Version 14.0.0.130 on a Windows 7 computer. I use it to make videos/dvds of family fun days. The program is new to me but I have used a previous version. In this program I cannot import M4V video files into my projects. I researched online and it said I needed to activate the MPEG-4 Main Concept codec. This I did but I still cannot import as it says the file format cannot be read and is it write protected. So it appears paying for and downloading/activating that codec did me no good. Anyone out there know how to import M4V files into your projects? Do I need a video converter program? Thanks

Hi

Are the m4v files in iTunes?

If so then iTunes may be preventing the files being read - you need to copy the file out of iTunes into a different folder.

If the files are not in, or are still not readable after copying from iTunes, then you may need a video converter to get them into a standard format eg mp4.
