How Do You Find Out What the Chords Are in Your Composition?

I'm still struggling to make MM Premium 2014 work with me musically, but it seems to be tough.  I now know (thank you John) that I can print out my compositions using Samplitude, so that will help.  But I'm still stuck in my musical background and am trying to figure out the chords in loops that I am using. For example, in one section I'm using Latin 1.ogg, a spanish guitar loop.  I would like to add a melody on top of it from my keyboard.  The pitch/tempo properties tells me it's in the key of C, but not the chords, or even the root of the chord that Latin 1.ogg is playing!  Is there any musical property noted in the information somewhere?  Or is there even a number of the chord in the identified key somewhere?

Thanks for any help..

Dave

Hi,

You need to use the "Harmony Agent" to give you the key and the chords.  Then on the next chord or pitch change, do the same thing, add a new pitch and the changed chord will be displayed.  Make sure that the pitch change is within the range of the key, so if you pick the pitch change as one of the numbers like 1,2, 3, 4, 5,6 etc, the change will be in the same key and you can display the actual chord for that change in the video window.  If this does not make sense to you, let me know and I could make a quick YouTube video with and example.

Thanks, Grand.  I dabbled with Harmony Agent, but couldn't make sense of how it helped with chords.  Let me take a look at going your route and see if I can figure it out.

Hi Dave,

I was hoping to use words instead of a YouTube video to get you on the right track but please don't spend too much time, I can do the video and show you excatly how I do it.

George,

If you've got the time or inclination a video would be great!  Don't go to any trouble, but I'm sure alot of people, including me, would be interested in this!
