How do you adjust MPEG quality when importing from a dv camcorder

I have Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus (version 10.0.11.0(UC1) ) which I run under Windows 7.

When importing from a DV camcorder and saving the video as an MPEG file how do you adjust the quality of the resulting MPEG file. On the DV Import screen I cannot find any means of doing this. I need to do this in order to improve the quality of the resulting MPEG file.

For info I also import video from an old AV camcorder and on the AV Import screen there is an option for adjusting the MPEG quality.

It puzzles me why I can adjust MPEG quality when importing AV not for DV importing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim Edwards

I have difficulties to see that you can improve the quality of an MPEG-file by changing the parameters.

If your recordings come from a DV-camera (tape), I thing it is a better idea to transfer the files as DV-AVI, which is lossless. This gives the best obtainable video from your camera, when you export as MPEG..
