How do I unlink objects across tracks? I try left click or shift G but they stay bound together and I can't move a single object on to another track.

Movie Studio Platinum 2024, Windows 10 Pro

Thanks for any help

@Bteam

To clarify, as an example, you have video on track 1, audio on track two and you want to "ungroup" them so you can move the video or audio object independently?

If that is the case, click the pair so they're highlighted, then click the Ungroup icon (weird chain with small arrows pointing at it) or do Shift G.

You can test the ungrouping by clicking on one or the other; only it will be highlighted.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Hi

In addition to @AAProds comment:

  • Video/audio on one track must be changed to video and audio on separate tracks click the object and then use Ctrl+H.

  • If the video and audio are on locked track(s) then the tracks must be unlocked before ungrouping.

  • If you have added an effect that is also attached to the video/audio then you main need to ungroup 2 or 3 times to get individual objects.

Answered. I had selected "mouse mode for all tracks" so the audio and video properties selected were all moving as one.

I appreciate your assistance. Thanks,
