How do I type Tamil Unicode or UTF-8 fonts in Movie Edit Pro MX Plus

srisudarshan wrote on 8/13/2013, 12:51 AM

When I use Tamil Font in Title editor, some of the conjunct characters are getting reversed. ie: What I see in the display of the title editor is differnt from what I get when I exit the editor.

I use the same font in word, skype, excel and other applications without any problem. Even when I do cut and paste the same in the title editor I face this unique problem.

Hardware: High end-Acer G3610 Machine; OS: Windows 8

Software: Movie Edit Pro MX Plus;

கோத is what I type or want my output. What I get as wrong out put was:

Further to explain: கோ is a single alphabet, though it contains 3 conjuncted character;  Further, I loaded relevant Fonts in the system-Font folder and I can see the same font even in Magix pro title editor windows also. I use both Unicode and UTF-8 coding also. Though, the problem looks simple, if I am unable to solve this problem, then to title it, I need to take a minimum of 500 Odd picture and show them in the title which lead me to an enormus work load.

We appreciate your feedback.

Sudarshan

Hi,

This is a configuration keyboard, try to find which letter on your keyboard gives the right letter. Also you can use the character map in Windows using your font and copy paste the specific character.

Hi Sudarshan

I can replicate this problem - certain characters have moved position, another example is shown below - some characters have also been changed -  it looks like is is a bug in MEP.

In the editor

After clicking the tick to confirm.

In another video editing software and Microsoft Word the same text is OK.

I have sent a bug report to Magix

Hi

Checking the Microsoft website has shown that this is a problem also relating to Windows 7 (and Vista) and the unicoding of the Tamil script.

I also found the same problem with another language script similar to the Tamil script.

However what is puzzling is that Word and another video program displayed and rendered the characters and phrases correctly.

Hi John,

You had wonderfully replicated my language display problem. I am sending you a good link  on Wiki-Tamil Script.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamil_script

At the bottom of this site, you may note "Unicode Tamil Syllabary", which may be helpful for your technical people.

II Tip: Under control panel, add Language, I added Tamil (India) as my keyboard. Using this keyboard, in the word document and noting the Tamil Syllabary, I was creating the symbols for the alphabet; For ex: மெ

(the first alphabet in your title editor experiment) was created with unicode symbols 0BAE (ம) + 0BC6 (ெ). ie: FIrst symbol was 0BAE (ம) and second symbol was 0BC6 (ெ); the IME or Unicode editor, adjusts it in such way for a real letter or reading as மெ;

Uniquely, if I first type out directly in your title editor 0BC6 (ெ) and then 0BAE (ம), I am getting the exact alphabet மெ; But, it is only an experiment for your technical people to decode it on ASAP basis, as I suffer in terms of quality output of my presentations and tons of time. In real world, using Microsoft Tamil Keyboard or any Unicode software or phonetic based software, no one will type in 0BC6 (ெ)+ 0BAE (ம);

Unfortunately, this funny experiment confined me to 2 symbols alphabets only. There are umpteen 3 symbols alphabets like கோ;

Kindly help us at the earliest on how to solve this bug or any quick fix. Right now, we had invested 80 Man hours to capture 900 odd pictures, using snipping tools and try to use JPG file as our title, though the resuts  are not that satisfactory and not creatively manipulative also.

Regards

I thank you for your suggestion. It was good to a limited and experimental level. I have just sent a detailed experimental report to Mr. John. The language has got 3 symbols to generate an alphabet and it works fine in  word/excel with character map. When you cut and paste it on the title editor of Magix, the final output became awry;

Hi Sudarshan

I do not work for Magix, however I did contact them regarding this issue.

Magix have raised a bug report on this issue, which is a limitation of the text editor.which also has problems with right to left languages like Hebrew and Arabic .

For now the workaround you have found is the only option to get the correct display.

Thank you for the link to the Tamil language wiki article - that is the one I used to see if I could reproduce the problem.
