This will be impossible if the sound you are trying to split is already mixed down.

Remember that a song for example, can be recorded using 16 tracks and then finally mixed down to 2 (stereo).

From the final product you cannot go backwards unless you have the original recordings.

Hi,
There are vocal remover and karaoke plug-ins available but they are only about 80% effective.
Clevo is right and they usually can not be manipulated.

Thos vocal removers only tend to work on stereo music tracks that have the vocals mixed to one side I believe, and removing those vocals also tends to remove much of the dynamics in the sound

Vocal removers work with stereo or mono tracks as long as they're straight up the middle. Any panning to one side or the other and you're outta luck.

Dynamics are not usually affected too bad because if they are, what is missing is left in the original as artifacts and thus considered a failure.

You'll usually get some artifacts with these types of programs anyway but any loss of vocal dynamics will be left in the song. The chances of removing song dynamics is VERY minimal, that would be a compressor that does that.

Either way they're not the best solution but can work in certain circumstances.
