Hi

Check that the program settings, project filepath settings point to the root folder containing your projects.

This is how my filepaths are set up to use a second hard drive (W:) and a different image editor.

As an example I use this folder structure for my projects

The HDP, and H0 files when used, will be created in the same folder as the video source files and the location cannot be changed.

The HDP and H0 files are internal files for MEP use only and if you need to free up disc space once a project is completed they can be deleted.  If they are needed again when you open the project at a later date MEP will recreate them.

Thanks, John.

There is something weird going on with the HDP and H0 files. As you mentioned, in the first project I worked on, several weeks ago, these files were indeed created in the same folder as the video source. But in my recent project these files are being created in C:\Users\%UserName%\Documents\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\AudioTemp.

I don’t recall having configured any paths in the first project and was wondering whether I had forgotten that I did. I certainly did not configure any paths in the current project and so am at a loss to explain the difference in behavior.

Hi

I have just checked my MEP Premium and it is still creating the HDP and H0 files in the same folder as the video as you can see below - this view does not show the H0 files however they are there.

I did however have some HDP and H0 files in the audiotemp folder, however the creation date suggests that they were from my initial testing of MEP Premium before I set my folder paths up.

Can you post a screenshot of your folder paths settings?

Here is the screen shot of the movie information:

I never set the paths refering to the C: drive.

Also, I noticed that if I delete all H0 and HDP files that the project does not load and gives an error that a source file cannot be found. Though I browse to the source file and select it MEP refuses to recognize it and still claims that the file is missing. I am not sure whether this is related.

OK. Finally managed to get the image uplaoded.

Hi

The settings you have posted were not the ones I required, however by posting the wrong settings you have enabled me to pinpoint what the issue is.

For file formats like MP4, AVCHD, AVI the HDP and H0 files are created in the same location as the source video files, however for WMV files the HDP and H0 are created in the AudioTemp folder.

I tried changing the Import folder setting in MEP (which usually points to the AudioTemp folder) and can confirm that the WMV import module uses that setting for the location to put the HDP and H0 files.

You can change this in the programs settings if required however I would leave it as it is currently set and delete the HDP and H0 files when you have finished the project.

Hi John,

Thanks for the explanation. Now I see why things are behaving differently. In my first project I was using mp4.

Maybe this should be another thread, but deleting the HDP and H0 files causes an issue. I have attached screenshots.

AudioTemp directory after deleting HDP and H0:

Error when opening the project:

Current directory where file exists but is MEP does not find it:

Cannot use the Folder: button to update the link to the source. If I restore the HDP and H0 files all is fine again.

I discovered that if I move the MVP file to a new directory that I could then use the Folder: button to update the link to the source. But this is really odd and seems to be a bug. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

P.S. I am still new to MEP. I see now what you meant by folder path setting. Sorry about that. Now I know where I can make the changes. I really need the files out of the C: drive.
