How do I render all individual movies in a project to individual files at once

info595 wrote on 2/3/2014, 6:11 PM

I have multimple (10) movies in a project (multiple move tabs open). I do not want to merge all the movies. I need to make seperate movie files. I can export it one by one, but is there an option of batch render all the movies into individual movies?

It would be best if the rendering could be done externally, a seperate rendering scipt that can be loaded outside the video editing software, so I do not have to wait two hours before I can start a new project.

Hi

AFAIK there is no batch operation that will do what you want

Is there a reason why there are 10 individual movies in one project as opposed to 10 projects each with a single movie?

IMHO you are working the wrong way round.

For big multi movie projects I create each individual move in a seperate project.  To combine them into a single multi movie project I a new project and attach the individual ones to it to create the full multi movie project.

This has two advantages

1   Working on a single movie project is quicker - the computer is more responsive.

2   I can export/burn the single movie project as I need without having the hassle of changing the menus, deselecting movies etc in the burn dialog.

Thanks for your reply John,

Yes, there is a very good reason why I work this way.

I record classical concerts and work with three cameras and a seperate mic setup. Ususally the performers will play  4 compositions and every composition has often 4 movements. I record 1-1/2 hours of footage in one stretch. I need a seperate file of every movement, So I need 16 seperate movies (files)

My workflow is like this.
After inserting all my videos and audio files I line them up and  start splicing so switching from one camera to another. Then deleting the scenes on every layer I do not want to uncover the layer underneath it. These leaves me with a multi camera footage. This is very efficient (I find the multi camera option of the software less efficient... it is more cumbersome to splice exactly in places where I need to)

After everything is done I would like to render all the different sections/movements.
In premiere you can do it is in two different ways:
1. In the movie tab I would be able to place a marker (and name te marker) at the beginning and the end of each movement. I would do this for all 16 movements, so I have marked 16 sections/movements. Then I would render all sections/movements at ones and I would end up with 16 different files

2. I would create 16 different movies in a project and copy every movement into a movie tab and then batch render all 16 movies into 16 seperate files

In Video Pro X5 I can only save one movement at the time. So I would need to stay at my computer  and render 16 movement seprately. Very inefficient

In Premiere I can even render outside the software, so I can keep editing other movies.I find Video Pro X5 nicer to work with compared to Premiere, but I need batch rendering of seprate movies into sperate files.

Thanks

Erik

So, to make a long story short:

I would like to be able to place multiple ranges in the movie.
I would like to batch render every range into a separte movie.
It's that simple...

Thanks

Hi

Is the final destinaton to be a single disc wih 16 movies on it or 16 video files to be used for example on a web site?

Exactly. 16 movements played in a play list on YouTube.

Maybe an option for future releases is to have chapter markers not only used for burning puposes but also for batch rendering multiple movies

Hi

. . . . Maybe an option for future releases is to have chapter markers not only used for burning puposes but also for batch rendering multiple movies . . .

I was thinking along similar lines to this except using the Range selector as this is already programmed in to the export routines.  The change needed would be to allow range division to export multiple files.

Yes,  that would work very nicely.  And then make the ranges renameable.

Another solution is to have a script built into the software so that it would render a selection of the available movie tabs after  copying every movement/section from the main movie into its own movie tab.
