How do I remove microphone noise (bumps) from a recording?

With Audio Cleaning Lab 2013, how do I remove the noise of the microphone (loud bumping sound) from the recording of a voice. I first tried removing it with the Rumble from Vinyl but it didn't do anything.  I tried various built in denoiser settings with no success.

I then tried the wizard in the Denoiser and created a sample by creating a 1 minute object.  However, there is no noise in the sample when I play it.  Possibly it is not possible to remove this.

I then was able to create a sample of the noise. Fortunately, it was there at the beginning of the recording without the voice over it.  However, I can't export it to create a nrd file to put  it in the appropriate folder.

I'm using a laptop computer with Windows 7, 32 bit version.

The best answer would be to eliminate the source of the noise to begin with.  You haven't told us what is causing the noise.  If it is from holding the microphone, you should get a proper shock mount.  If it is popping noise from the p's and t's, then get a proper pop filter.

ACL is probably better at removing consistant droning noise rather than random events.  My guess is your noise is mostly low frequency, which you could filter out to some degree but not without adversely affecting the rest of the track.

Hi,

Try Spectral Cleaning. See page 149 in the manual. I had trouble in the past getting it to work, but I just tried it and was able to eliminate the pops where I hit the mic (on purpose). See the image below for the steps. This is just for infrequent noises, not constant or continuous noises.

Enjoy!
