How do I reload Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 17 Deluxe?

jneely35 wrote on 4/7/2013, 4:33 PM

I downloaded Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 17 Deluxe in 2011.  My computer has had a major malfuntion and I have to reload programs.  Tthe only thing I have for this program is the serial number.  Magix has a record of my purchase but will not provide guidance unless I pay a fee.  Any suggestions?

jneely35,

Assuming you have your original download file ('acl17dlm.exe' or something like that), the usual procedure is to simple double click on the 'exe file and you should get the option to uninstall the program or do a repair of an existing installation. The repair is quicker than uninstalling and then re-installing from scratch as only missing or corrupt file are copied.

Regards,

Carl

Thanks for your help Carl.  I will try your suggestion tonight.

Carl,

I appolgize for the delay,  I took your advice but was unable to find the download file ('acl17dlm.exe').  I took a couple of screen shots but it looks like this forum doesn't allow attached files.  I did see a folder, ACL17dlx_SetupRes.  When I opened the folder there was nothing to execute.  I also saw the following files:

ACL17dix_Setup

ACL17dix_SetupInfo

CleaningLab.exe.manifest

explore.exe.manifest

None of these files gave me the option to uninstall the program or do a repair.  I don't see MAGIX in the add/remove program list.

I've made a pretty big mess of things.  It all started with taking a wrong turn when trying to retrieve my files/programs from my backup, so I have stuff stort of scattered around.  I think I have learned an important lesson and that is to make certain I order the disc when I purchase programs on line since the companies don't stand behind the product if you only download.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my inquirey.

Hi

Go to the Magix web site and click the My Account link on the top right of the homepage.

Login to your account using the email address and password you used to register the software.

On the next page select My products there you should find your registered products and hopefully the download link if it is still available.

John,

Just to show you how untechinical I am, I don't understand how this forum/site works.  All I want to do is say I appreciate your assistance.  I'm not sure if I used the correct protocol. The advise you gave me was spot on.  I wish it had been easier to get to this point but I appreciate the support you have given me.  If you represent Magix this has been a very poistive experience that will definately impact my future purchases.
