How do I Increase the usb mic input to something usable in Samplitude Music Studio 2016.

I have a  Lenovo laptop, it does not have an audio input,  so I have to use a usb mic if I want to use an external mic. It does not record as the input levels are very low, they are there, but very low. Is there some sort of way that I can use my Samson Meteor usb mic to record on Samplitude Music Studio 2016 through the usb port  to raise my mic input level, I'm running Windows 7.

Hi,

I suggest that you download and install and use ASIO4All - select it in the Program settings of MMM.

Click on the gear beside the red Record button. select the correct Audio line-in for your mic, Click on Peak control. This will open the Windows sound interface. Your mic input should show up there. D-click on it for Input properties, Levels tab - increase the input level. Ok all. Try recording.

Hi

In addition to John CB's advice: -

With the mic plugged in, check the recording levels in Control Panel, Sound, Recording tab are Ok and if necessary turn the microphone boost setting up - from experience a lot of mics need this set ot 20 - 30 dB to get a decent recording level.
