Which version of Movie Edit Pro?

I have Movie Edit Pro 17 Plus and a Canon Vixia HG20, which I connect to the PC via a USB cable that was provide with the camera. Doing so prompts the Camera to ask me if I want to connect to the PC (this I have to make sure I choose from the Camera side on the screen).

Once I have done this, and I click on the Import tab, I see that the Canon shows up as a drive letter.

When I press on the drive for the Canon, it lists to me all the files on the camera, I can then drag and drop the file I want into the project.

I do have an miniDV cam that connects through FireWire, and I am able to control that camera with Movie Edit Pro (or at lease I have been) I will test this to see if there are any issues... I have to find where I put the camera first...

But... in this case, there has to be a driver for the Magix software to use, there might not be a need for a driver for Windows, but if Windows is not communicating that device to the Movie Edit Pro, then something has to give. Another thing to look for is other editing software.

I have a Sony cam that I gave up on because it required me to use their software to capture (it wouldn't work in any other capture software) then I had to export it to a standardized format to get it in the Movie Edit Pro. I think they later made a device driver work around (Sony Switcher) but by then, I had moved on. Something like this might have to be a workaround for you; capture in one software, export to use in Magix if there is no way to directly connect.

I am not sure Canon uses such practice, I know they used to make their own software, but they dropped it all together.

-Breaking News-

I found my old minDV camera (canon ZR200) and I am getting the same issue as you. I know for a FACT I used this camera with Movie Edit Pro 16 Plus and Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus but I cannot connect now (with those titles)... the only difference now is that I used to be running XP, not Windows 7.

I went to the Canon website and they are taking about an update for the ZoomBrowser? so I am not sure...

What Windows operating system are you running?
