How do I get video and pictures to mix down together?

I have MGX Pro 17 on Windows 7

I shot a wedding with my photo camera and a video cam. I'm trying to put them together in a movie. I've got all of my pics and videos all set in their own tracks on the time line. Set up so that pictures come and go through out movie. Playing in the edit mode, it plays beautifully. When I tried to burn the "Video" in the movie freezes and is just terrible. Audio is fine and, for most part, the slideshow is OK. After many many tries I've figured out it is when it is "Mixed-Down". I have purchased MPEG-4 codac activation with not much success. I really do not know what I am doing and hope some one can help.

I hope I do not have to start from scratch with this because it took for ever to make up this master peice. HAHA. It really did take a while .

TreyS,

A small suggestion would be to first do an export of the file format matching your final product, and then load this single video clip into a new project to do your DVD burn. A friend does this regularly and only adds chapter markers and maybe some extra captions etc. Now MEP need only deal with the menu and the few last minute changes, rather then the entire often complex video editing workload.

What file format? Depends on what you want! Start with one of the presets from the dropdown menu at the top of the export window eg under MPEG 'Standard DVD PAL widescreen'. Then under the 'Advanced' button set the 'Quality' to 15 rather than the default 10. Other setting can be varied but I've not much experience to guide you further.

Hope this helps,

Carl

No it didn't help. When I export it, it still mixes it down and does not record the entire video. The mix down seems to be the culprit. Thank you for your responce.

Well, I guess I got problem solved. I down loaded a program to format it into MPEG format. When I tried to start the process I was directed to down load a codec from Samsung (it was fimed with a Samsung cam) and then it was formated. I then started new project and it worked like a charm. If anyone else has the problem, check out "SmartSoft video convertion".
