How do I get rid of a 'hum' that haas appeared on my video when adding the spoken commentary on my project?

My system is Windows 7 and I'm using the Magix Edit Pro MX.

All has gone well with my project. Have added background music - fine. Have now got to the stage of adding a spoken commentary via a microphone.  This comes out loud a clear but now a 'hum' as appeared.  Any suggestions as to how to correct this - the cause or other ideas?

Hi

Hum is one of the biggest problems to get rid of.

Depending on how loud the hum is you may be able to significantly reduce it by right clicking the audio clip and selecting the Audio Cleaning option .

Try the equaliser tab abd reduce the low frequency levels as shown in the image, you could also try the De-noiser however I find this less effective at low frequencies.

The best solution is actually to avoid the hum in the first place.

One of the most significant sources is Fluourescent lights and various types of electrical equipment.

The type of microphone you use can also have an influence - for example a good quality shielded dynamic microphone will be less prone to hum induction then a plastic bodied mike.

A good quality USB micrphone will be less influenced by electrical equipment/lights as the signal is digitised inside the microphone.

Hi John

Seem to have solved the problem which may have been a conflict between a microphone connected to the PC and a Cam Camera with built in mike.    Removed the microphone and just used the camcamera mike and all was well.

Thanks for your interest.
