how do I get my computer to play mxv files?

I have copied a VHS tape on to my computer through the Magix programme and burnt it on to a DVD RW .When I try to play the DVD it is in MXV file and I do not appear to have a programme to play this format. Any answers please !

The file format 'MXV' is the Magix proprietary format and only Magix software will read it.

It sounds to me as though you have used Movies on DVD (MoD7) to create the file on your PC but then used an external program to copy the raw MXV file to your DVD-RW.

To make a generic DVD that will play on most DVD players you should use the MoD7 Burn option. This gives you the option to 'Burn Video CD/DVD for TV'.

You should also check that your player can read Rewriteable discs - many don't.
