I have an audio cleaning lab CD-Rom from 2000-2001 but cannot get it to work on my Dell Studio XPS Desktop PC which operates using Windows 7
My PC does not even recognise that there is a CD when it is in the computer
You got two problems, 1. Compatibility 2. Windows 7 does not recognize CD.
Before compatibility it is necessary your CD should run first. Therefore, please read this article.

If you have installed program you can use compatibility.
Please Right click on the Program then on Properties and click on Compatibility tab and select Run this program in compatibility mode and select whatever operating system when the program was running successfully. Or better watch this video tutorial.
