How do I get Magix Studio to work?

I am using this software with a Yamaha MG10UX USB capable board, Toshiba laptop running Windows 8.  It's a new computer I bought specifically for this purpose.  If I use it with the USB cable, what I record on track 1 is also recorded on any subsequent tracks I record - i.e. guitar on track 1.  Then I add bass to trck 2 and on track 2 are guitar and bass.  I guess this shouldn't surprise me since it is dumping back into a particular channel.

If I set up to use the headphones on the computer via the Windows settings, then that problem is solved but I cannot monitor what I am currently recording via the speakers/headphone jack.

Also, I have no internet at home and the monthly verification is simply ridiculous. What a pain in the neck.  So, while at work I log on to their web site for tech support today.  The browser we use at work is too old and I can barely see the web site but I spy a phone number.  I call it and select 1 for tech support.  It tells me there is no phone number for tech support and promptly hangs up on me.  So I call back and push a different number and am told to call back during operating housr between 9 and 4 Mon thru Fri Eastern time.  My time zone - and it was 12:30 PM. when I made the call.

Hi,

You can record to multiple tracks at one time in Samplitude Music Studio.

If you record to track 1 and then want to record to track 2, make sure that you turn off the red record button that is probably still turned on in track 1, and turn on the red button in track 2.

Today is probably not a good day to call support anywhere as many places are closed for Easter Monday.

You are best to use the on-line support, fully describe your problem, and wait for a day or so for an answer.

You must be in a part of the world that is not well-connected to the internet. This is a major handicap, as almost everything now passes through the internet. Are you using a portable computer? No internet cafés?

I figured it out.  It was the loose nut behind the wheel (me, in other words).  It wasn't a software issue but a loop setting on the board.  It works just like it should now.

I still don't like the idea of having to log onto te internet once a month to validate the software - but there are other options available to me :-)
