How do i fit 90 minutes on 1 Disc

Im using Movie edit pro MX on windows 7, i am trying to burn a finished project (which is wedding footage from VHS) onto a blank disc, it's always worked ok until just recently and now the blue line is full on the dvd burning screen, when i click burn it gives me the same message...

" The disc space may not be enough. Would you automatically like to split the project over multiple discs? In this case, the original project will be saved prior to this"

I've checked on various blank DVD,s including different brands, on "My computer" it confirms its blank.

I've cut the project  down and it still gives this message. How short to i need to make my project? i should be able to fit 90 minutes onto a dvd but i've had to cut it down to 55 minutes to get it to burn. Is there another way i can get the 1hr:45 min film onto my blank DVD? Thanks

Hi

A standard (single layer) DVD will hold approx 2 hrs of video (including the menu video).

Assuming you have not changed any of the DVD preset settings, you may have had a warning to adjust the Bitrate of the movie if the video could be fitted to a single layer DVD.

I suspect the video on the timeline is actually more than 1h 45m long and cannot be fitted to a DVD by adjusting the bitrate - possibly due to a stray object (or more) beyond what is visible in the timeline pane.

To check this, with the timeline cursor at the beginning of the timeline press the End key, the timeline cursor will move to the end of the last object on the timeline.

If this is past the end of the project (1h 45m) then there is an object at the timeline cursor - you may not see it if it is a single frame that has been left behind after editting and may be on a lower track.

The easiest way to remove the excess space and any objects in it is to set a range from the end of the video to the end of the timeline - see image below and then press Alt+Del to delete the selected range.

Note:  if you have a range set - indicated by the blue bar you can move the range end markers by dragging them with the mouse

Hi.  I haven't been burning DVD's, but when I did (and I did many) I was rarely able to put more than 100 min. on any standard DVD (single layer).   I always hit "End" on the timeline, and the cursor almost always stops where the video ends.   (just my 2 cents)
