How do I edit the DVD Menu buttons?

Nandito wrote on 5/11/2013, 3:03 PM

Hi I am new here. I am just barely learning how to use Magix Movie Edit Pro. I have a project near completion and I am almost ready for the burning process. However, in the DVD Menu Editor I can't seem to edit the buttons that was provided by the template. The template I like had the text buttons in another language other than English. I clicked the edit tab and it is not allowing me to change the button in English. The play button says "Film starten" and I want to change that to "Play Movie" and the other says "Kapitel offnen" and I want to change it to "Chapter Selection." Also in the sub menu I want to change the button that says "Hauptmenu" but I can't seem to edit any one of them. Thank you for your time and assistance.

I am using version Movie Edit Pro 2013

I run the program with a Windows 7 Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 laptop.

Hi,

There are 82 DVD menu templates in my MEP 2013 setup and after 20 minutes I've given up searching. So please tell us which one you're talking about.

Then you need to clarify exactly what you've done. A screenshot would be a good idea.

Meanwhile, I assume it's not just a simple matter like right clicking the selected button and choosing Properties?

What is the full version name and number from Help > About... ?

Please report back.

I have tried right clicking and choosing Properties. The text I want is in the edit tab but not on the final menu. It's not letting me customize it. I'm using the template in User-defined and it's titled "Weicher Verlauf" next to the Train and Cool Pan templates. The version I am using is Version 12.0.3.4 (UDC1) I've been having a heck of a time attempting to customize these templates as if they just expect you to use it as is. My apologies, I just wish there were some in depth DVD Menu tutorials available somewhere.

You've picked a template that's going to be tough if not impossible to change the button text IMO.

If you click In Arranger from DVD Edit mode you'll see that the Play button's 'text' is actually a bitmap, layered into the two files in tracks 15 and 16. You can try editing them using Magix Photo Designer, but I'm not optimistic.

I'm off to bed now but I'll take another look at it tomorrow if I get time.

And, yes, I agree that DVD menu authoring is poorly covered in the Magix MEP documentation.

I put some more effort into this today but apart from the risky and complex approach of editing the special BMP files I failed to find a way of doing it.

So I sent a formal request to Magix. Their first response was useless (" just click edit and edit as you wish") but after further challenge I got ths:

Thank you for your screenshot. I now had a look at the program itself and found the template you were referring to. Unfortunately this is a bug in the program and we reported it already. There is no option within the program to edit the german layout. ..... you are able to edit your own menu but unfortunately not the text of the original layout. Therefore you will need to use a different layout.

Thanks for the info Terry. I had struck that problem recently with a menu called "Seed". I think I was able to change the "Kapitel Marker" text but  not the "Film Start" font or colour
