I just want to save and then close a project in Magix MX. Just like you do in all windows programs. I have been able to in past versions but there is no pick for close project or movie in the File drop down.
Which version were you able to close a project in?
Not all windows programs allow multiple 'project' windows open, in particular video editing software.
I have had MEP versions 11,14,15,16,17 and now MX, also Pinnacle Studio versions 8 - 10 and Sony Vegas Pro 9 and none of these, as far as I can remember, enable you to work on more than one project at a time.
This business of 'projects' and 'movies' can be quite confusing.
As John says, there can only be one project open at any time. But (as I'm sure you know!) it can contain several entities that Magix calls 'movies'. (To me, these are 'sub-projects'. A 'movie' to me is what I end up with after all my efforts, effectively synonymous with 'video'.)
So when you say you want to close a project, do you mean you want to close the project or do you want to close one of its movies?
Closing MEP is obviously one sure way of closing the project! More usefully, File > New Project (or Ctrl + N) closes the existing project and opens a fresh one, so maybe that's what you're after?
To close a movie, you use File > Manage movies > Remove from project or Ctrl + F4, the familiar Windows hotkey for closing child windows:
Note that File > Manage movies > File > Manage movies > New is potentially misleading, as it doesn't open 'a new movie' which its name implies (that's done by File > Manage movies > Import) , it opens a new project's movies.
