how do I apply effects to a single scene using MEP 2016?

I'm trying really hard to learn MEP!

I am editing a movie that has a scene that needs a lot of work with effects. How do I isolate that section and carry out the effects and editing on it, please?

Assuming that your clip is contiguous, then place the playback marker at the beginning of where you want your effects to start, press on the letter T to cut the clip, move the playback marker to where you want the effects to end, press T. Now you have isolated an object. Click on it to select it. Now apply your effects.
